The Lord placed home schooling on my heart long before I even thought about getting married! This is record of the Lord's work in our lives and in our home school. Let HIS will be done!

Weekly Report (1/11 - 11/15)

We had another exciting and productive week here!

Bible: I have been reading out of a kid's devotional book that I received a year or so ago. This is going well and I figured I could put together some craft projects to go along with different days.

Math: We finished up Unit 19 in one night! Squeak was on a roll. So the rest of the week, we just worked in her Flash Kids workbook and will finish Unit 20 next week. Squeak can skip count to 100 by 10's, to 20 by 5's and to 10 by 2's - she is still working on by 2's somewhat but she is doing well. Unit 20 is the money unit.

Then we will be done with Singapore Earlybird Math K!! I am very confident on how much she has learned from this math. We will begin Horizons K math on March 1st. Yes, it's another Kindergarten Math but Squeak can't write and I don't want to get her into 1st grade math so soon. I do have a good supplement to keep the challenge going while she works on the easy repeat stuff in Horizons. I just hope Horizons is as fast moving as I've read it is!

Peter Rabbit: Squeak and I have read this story many times this week before actually starting the lap book activities. I also asked her the follow up questions provided by my teacher's manual to ensure she understood the story before starting the activities. Today we completed the first two activities and though they were rather boring to Squeak, she enjoyed pasting them together and getting one into the lap book. We made the time line and the vocabulary words activity. We also added our own vocabulary word - "author". Here are two pictures of what we did today (sorry that the quality is poor):

Here the time line is pasted into our lap book.

The vocabulary words. Squeak, of course, doesn't need to remember them but we are using them while talking about the story.

Other: We also finished Elliot's Park last night. We will start reading it again next week!

  1. Peter Rabbit is always a lot of fun in our house! I wish I had known about all these great resources when mine were little. My daughter would have loved it.
