I bought Squeak her first chapter book read aloud last night! Daddy read the first chapter to her and she loved it! I found it in the bargain book bin at the grocery store and it's called Elliot's Park: Saving Mister Nibbles by Patrick Carmen. It's about squirrels who save a stuffed squirrel! Squeak has always had a good attention span for books so I'm not sure why I didn't get her a chapter book sooner. Daddy will read one chapter a night to her and I'm going to start buying more.
Also: I posted my weekly report before she went to school last night. Squeak did a great job with money AND reading numbers! She identified numbers like 41, 45, 35, and a couple of others! I didn't know she could identify numbers that high. Pleasant surprise!
Here is the Elliot's Park book, it's really cute:
Elliot's Park
I'm glad Squeak loved the read aloud! A pleasant surprise ( or 2) always makes for a good week!
ReplyDeleteThis is so great. I love those milestones!! BTW, I am looking forward to checking out the Peter Rabbit lapbook when you are done! My crew were never interested in lapbooks but we all love Peter Rabbit!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Squeak!
ReplyDeleteThat's great!
ReplyDeleteWow, the book looks really cute. Don't think mine is ready for chapter books yet though. I have tried before and she lost interest really fast. Our library does have all 3 books about Elliot's Park though, so maybe in a few months we will try it out. I know Squeak is almost a year older, sooo.....
ReplyDeleteVery cool about her recognizing the numbers, too.
The one Elliot's Park book about Halloween won't make it into our house! LOL! But the soccer story is fine!
ReplyDeleteYeah, the Halloween one wont make it into our house either. Though i hope that he comes out with more books in the series, because they look really cute.
