The Lord placed home schooling on my heart long before I even thought about getting married! This is record of the Lord's work in our lives and in our home school. Let HIS will be done!

Weekly Report 10/11 - 10/15

Despite a day and a half of Squeak being sick, she still accomplished a lot.

Bible -  We are still making our way through the 101 Bible Story book.

Math - We did not do ANY math this week! We decided to take the week off of math. November 1st is still the start of Singapore 1b so we've just been puddering through Horizons 1 and MEP anyways.

Science - On the 11th, Squeak completed her animal Living Things Unit!! I printed out a little book as her "prize"!

And here is the completed science wall!!

The next study is a plant study, which we started on Tuesday and worked on today (Friday). Tuesday she made this little flower craft:

Today, she colored in the front of her "Nature Diary". We will need that when we start to sprout seeds - she will record her observations. I made it by cutting two cardboard pieces to the size of printer paper and punched 3 holes down the side. Then I punched holes in the printer paper and tied it all together with hemp string (3 different colors). Finally I wrote with a permanent marker in big block letters "Squeak's Nature Diary" (used her real name). She colored in the front while listening to how seeds are spread today.

Read Alouds -  Wednesday night, we finished Magic School Bus chapter book #4 and began #5. We were suppose to start a new chapter book series called Pony Pals after Book #4 BUT Squeak insisted jsut one more MSB book!

Other -  I ordered Lollipop Logic and Primary Logic from Prufrock Press and they arrived yesterday. My plan was to use these on "non math" nights. Well, last night Squeak completed 23 out of the 52 lessons in Lollipop Logic with ease. I knew this was going to be an easy book but I thought it would be a nice confidence booster. She really enjoyed it!

I am also going to re-do Squeak's whole curriculum starting in January (or earlier). I'm going to drop all the extras and just focus on Bible, math, science, reading/writing, and history. Streamline things, cut out the extras and focus on basically stuff required by the state. I just won an A beka History book on ebay! It's the 2nd Grade (Our America) book. I thought that would be a gentle introduction to history before starting something more in depth. Until the streamline, we are going to do the stuff we've been doing. We will do this basic plan for a while then change again. I thought that would keep things spicy! LOL!

  3. I love it that they want another Magic Treehouse...reminds me of my girls at that age. You're doing such an excellent job in nurturing them.
