Math- We are working through the Time Unit in Singapore Math. I don't like the way Singapore presents the days of the weeks. I do like the way Horizons does - they line up the days of the week with the ordinal numbers and present them that way. Singapore just presents them without any ordinal numbers. But that is ok, as long as she gets an idea that the days of the week have names and some sort of order then we are fine. So, in conversation, I'm going to mention the day of the week when I think of it and what the next day is - just to get it into conversation and she can see that each day is different.
I figured we will be done with Earlybird K in January then move onto Horizons K on February 1st.
MBTP- This week, we made two animals from our habitats! The octopus from the seashore/sea and a grizzly bear puppet from the Arctic Tundra:
Squeak is cutting the arms and legs of her grizzly bear out!
Phonics- Squeak really hasn't used Starfall or Reading Eggs this week so we did two phonics worksheets from the Evan Moor book. She learned that some words end with TWO s's like grass and dress!
Bible- Though nothing "official", we talk about Jesus and pray daily. I think I'm set on CLE Bible 1 for fall too!

Sounds like a fun week. I have friends who are really enjoying CLE Bible. They tried to switch to something else and the kids begged to go back.
ReplyDeleteI love the habitats! That is an excellent idea! In other words, I think Luke will be making some soon :)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your little lady is getting a fantastic education!
Daisy! That is great to know about CLE Bible! Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteA note about days of the week. I am not sure how this started, but when I lay my daughter down at night she is always telling me, "Sunday we go to church." I will tell her yes and then depending on the day of the week I will tell her what we will do when we wake up in the morning. For example, on Monday night I will tell her, "When we wake up it will be Tuesday and we will go to playgroup."
ReplyDeleteIt was when I realized she was doing this that I looked into trying to do calendar. We printed out calendars with the numbers dotted in from Handwriting for Kids. Think I might have mentioned this on my blog, not sure. We sing the days of the week song and sort of do calendar the way I did when I worked at the Montessori.
What's MBTP?
ReplyDeleteThe habitats sound so exciting. I have a huge roll of paper and, now, it's just screaming to be used for those habitats :)
Is it bad that we decorate with school work, lol? All I can think of is how great Luke's room will look papered with animals.
