I decided to do something completely different when we begin our K/1st summer session on June 6th. I want to keep things simple with minimal teaching on my part and more student lead. Squeak will also be involved in a few summer activities outside the home such as summer soccer, recreation and a science-based Youth Program (and it's FREE!!).
I am almost done with ironing out the resources I will make available for Squeak - one package is coming Friday, this is something I chose on the "easier" side so Packy can tag along (meaning I chose a package with picture books verses chapter books). We use this as "snack/story/project" time. Yes, I will announce what I'm using later on.
We will continue with BJU Bible and reading/read alouds. And that's it. We are breaking from Singapore Math and Noeo Science and Sonlight History. Mainly because I don't want to keep plowing through curriculum!
So, the bottom line summer K/1st plan:
-summer soccer
-Science-based Youth Program
-recreation
-BJU Bible
-reading/read alouds
-snack/story/project
-and possibly a Brain Quest Grade 3 workbook, just a pull out book for fun
Sounds like a great summer. Wow she's on Grade 3 Brain Quest. Tabitha is enjoying her K workbook and we are finishing up her preschool one that she wants to finish up so she can get her certificate. We work on those while Amelia and Hannah are napping, along with her readers.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear what you are using.
